The first three matches for August 8th’s Never Say Never event were announced today during Anthony Kingdom James’ appearance on Post Wrestling’s Cafe Hangout podcast.
In the main event of the evening, Kingdom will defend the Union Heavyweight Championship against fan favourite sensation Kevin Blackwood. Blackwood, trained by Pepper Parks at Buffalo, NY’s Grapplers Anonymous gym, is returning to the ring this summer after surviving a horrifying single vehicle crash last winter in Western New York.
Blackwood, along with fellow “Buffalo Brothers” Puf, Daniel Garcia and Kevin Bennett, were returning home from wrestling on an FLQ event in Montreal when their van hit a patch of black ice and was nearly torn in two by a guardrail. While both Puf and Bennett were able to return to action fairly quickly, both Garcia and Blackwood suffered much more serious injuries. Both wrestlers required surgery.
But now, healed and training for his return to the ring, Blackwood will be afforded the opportunity to capture Union gold… IF he can defeat the wily veteran champion, Anthony Kingdom James.
In addition to this headlining fight, listeners also learned for the first time that “The World’s Greatest Entertainer” will be returning to the Union as RJ City will be in competition at Never Say Never. His opponent, making his UIPW debut, is none other than the simian astronaut himself: Space Monkey!

And fans of hard-hitting women’s wrestling action will want to be on hand for the first ever encounter between the “Queen of Crazy” Addy Starr and the “Skate Punk Princess” Jody Threat.

Stay tuned as additional matches will be announced soon.
Never Say Never takes place on Thursday night, August 8th at the Tranzac Club in Toronto, Canada. Tickets for Never Say Never are on sale NOW via EventBrite.ca. Click THIS LINK to secure your seat today!
